Aphrodite and her her sisters Paintings ,drawings , tapestry .

Solo exhibition at Cornwall Contemporary in Penzance opening October 26 th from 2 till 4 pm all members cordiality invited

This exhibition partly grew out of a visit to Cyprus to explore the cult of Aphrodite. I learned that unlike the compliant Botticcelli image ingrained into our culture today  I learned she was also powerful vengeful and capricious.

I have also been influenced by the wonderful female renaissance artist Sister Plautilla Nelli, who used tears to represent emotion in her paintings. For me too the most powerful quality of a work of art is that it should be moving  . These works seem to chime with the current resurgence of female empowerment happening today .
