Lecturer and Head of Foundation Diploma Art and Design at Truro College, Cornwall. Current paintings, predominantly oils with mixed media, centre around interior spaces of abandoned buildings, which were once living or thriving work places. Each painting reflects a trace from history of a previous existence. They are full of atmospheric evocations and memories of the past. Each is a narrative, creating fragments of lost beauty and splendour combined with tangible awareness of presence. Broadly speaking my paintings are driven by a narrative theme, exploring the drama of emotionally charged interiors. I am drawn to the ever changing pattern of form, colour and light in old buildings, revealing signs of history, where silence lingers with the residue of human presence. Shafts of light and fleeting shadows evoke the elusiveness of time.
