These Oil Sketches on Paper Illustrating Ovid’s Metamorphoses were the starting point for larger paintings in response to the Edge of Dark the subject of a themed NSA show at the Tremeheere Sculpture Gardens. They provide a distance from the source photographs of existing historical paintings, sculpture and prints dealing with the same subject and as a test bed for experimentation.
