Profile
Martha Winter
2018
My work is the unusual outcome of many influences. Growing up with minimal art and modern architecture influenced my visual language of reduced and economical form. I am fascinated by systems, repetition and order, often working in series. I have regularly witnessed the extreme erosion of the coastline, which gave me an interest in the natural processes which form the landscape. I have developed unique processes, creating pieces reminiscent of satellite imagery and microscopy. Through my work, I seek to reach a combination of these ingredients, aiming for a point of tension and harmony where a frisson occurs.
I am an active committee member of the Newlyn Society of Artists. I also work with interior designers and art consultants to create bespoke pieces for specific locations. My work is in UK and international collections in residential, academic and corporate settings.
